Who is Who in Latvia

On the 25th of March, 1996 in Riga was held the presentation of the first Latvian encyclopedia "Who is Who in Latvia 1996". The book was published in two languages: in russian & english. It was created by the analogue of English encyclopedia "W ho's Who" a nd consists of 8 thousand most popular people's biographies. All these people come from Latvia. There are represantatives of all existing spheres of activity in Latvia:


		politics (Saeima members, government, political & voluntary organizations)

		law enforcement agencies (police, defence, lawyers)

		business (financial leaders, enterprizes' management, private companies' management, the representatives of transport organizations, architectural & construction companies, the spheres of entertainment & rest, mass media)

		science (medicine, Science Academy of Latvia, the management of all higher educational establishments in Latvia)

		culture (writers, artists and sculptors, musicians & composers, sportsmen, artists (skilled performers)

		religion (all Latvian religious confessions representatives)

The size of biography is up to the person's desire. A person should fill in the following data

name, surname
date & place of birth
education (higher educational establishment, faculty, graduation year)
place of work and the post
the previous places of work and the posts
foreign languages skills
hobby
membership of parties and organizations
scientific degrees
the main works and publications
addresses & phones

The book "Who is Who in Latvia 1996" is officially acknowledged by the Latvian Bibliographical Institution as encyclopedia. The first copy of the book was gifted to Mstislav Rostropovich during his concert in March 1996.

Moreover, we're planning to enter the Russian market. According to the opinion of specialists, the such encyclopedia should be interesting
