"My first impression of Riga was not very pleasant but, to be more
accurate, I must say that it had happened before Latvia gained
independence. Maybe my looks were too extravagant (long hair), may be
my behaviour was too independent - I don't know the reason why I was
arrested by militia officer for the most innocent request - I
wanted some cream to be added in my coffee that I ordered in the
railway terminal cafe and instead finding the cream the waitress called
for militia. The incident lasted half an hour and it was not fun. I
hope there is plenty of cream and patience now in Latvia".
