Here is _MY_ Rain Song tab. In other words, the definitive one (until
someone challenges my genius).
Tuning: EAEABE (ignore the marks to the left of each staff, it was
generated by the editor)
This is somewhat simplified. I mean, strumming and arpeggiation varies,
so I'm not going to get into note for note perfection. Plus the fills in
around the heavy part, you work it out yourself. And just put together
these tab sections in the proper structure to learn what to play and
when, but this is essentially everything you need to know to play the
song. There is some question as to position on some of this stuff, but I
opted for the easiest position (often up the neck quite a bit which is
unusual, but this tuning leads you there).

5 The heavy part, insert fills, 1st and/or 7th position
6 The coda. How he played up there on an acoustic in the album version is
beyond me. There must be a way to play it in a lower position, but I
can't figure it out. This is definitely how he does it (positionwise) in
TSRTS. To play the last chord ala the album, strum right next to the
bridge for a biting tone with all open strings. To play it ala live
version, strum with your pick halfway between the bridge and the 12th fret
for a keyboardy harmonicy rubbery tone. If you watch TSRTS I believe he
casts his pick away for the the last part of the coda so he's
fingerpicking it. Singleframe through it, you'll see the pick fly!
Also remember to use delay on most of this song, and distortion for the
heavy part.

I posted this elsewhere, but here is my version of RS, and once you play
it and compare to the fingerings shown in the movie, you will know it to
be the one true tab.
Here is _MY_ Rain Song tab. In other words, the definitive one (until
someone challenges my genius).
Tuning: EAEABE (ignore the marks to the left of each staff, it was
generated by the editor)
This is somewhat simplified. I mean, strumming and arpeggiation varies,
so I'm not going to get into note for note perfection. Plus the fills in
around the heavy part, you work it out yourself. And just put together
these tab sections in the proper structure to learn what to play and
when, but this is essentially everything you need to know to play the
song. There is some question as to position on some of this stuff, but I
opted for the easiest position (often up the neck quite a bit which is
unusual, but this tuning leads you there).

5 The heavy part, insert fills, 1st and/or 7th position
6 The coda. How he played up there on an acoustic in the album version is
beyond me. There must be a way to play it in a lower position, but I
can't figure it out. This is definitely how he does it (positionwise) in
TSRTS. To play the last chord ala the album, strum right next to the
bridge for a biting tone with all open strings. To play it ala live
version, strum with your pick halfway between the bridge and the 12th fret
for a keyboardy harmonicy rubbery tone. If you watch TSRTS I believe he
casts his pick away for the the last part of the coda so he's
fingerpicking it. Singleframe through it, you'll see the pick fly!
Also remember to use delay on most of this song, and distortion for the
heavy part.

Dorogie parni i devchata!
YA byl na koncerte Led Zeppelin(6 Iyunya 1998, Kanzas-Siti, Kanzas, SSHA), i ya
chuvstvuyu gospod' ne prostit mne, esli ya ne podelyus' toj neperedavaemoj
radost'yu i otkroveniem, kotoroe otkrylos' mne.
Hotya uchil Iisus " ... darom poluchili, darom davajte" Matfej, Gl. 10, stih
8, mne eto stoilo $115 i ne "s ruk", tak chto esli Vam ponravyatsya eti
zametki, prishlite avtoru 25 centov, a luchshe dollar v kachestve podayaniya - ne
gonorara.
Nachat' s togo, chto ya ne byl fanatom Led Zeppelin - muzyka ih byla
otnositel'no slozhnoj, i ya vsegda chuvstvoval, chto lirika(teksty pesen) byli
ochen' vazhny, a ponimat' ih neprosto ne znaya yazyka, a dazhe znaya, na sluh
tozhe ne zaprosto.
Stairway to Heaven - "Lestnica v nebesa" - eto pozhaluj to, chto slyshali vse,
no teper', kogda ya ponimayu liriku - eto chto-to SOVERSHENNO inoe. Kak
vyyasnilos', eto EDINSTVENNAYA ih pesnya, kotoruyu udostoil proslushivaniem
|lvis Presli, i Korolyu pesnya ponravilas'! :)
Deep Purple - eto prosto vesel'e, da, vesel'e! YA chital interv'yu(ya dazhe
zhiv'em IH videl, da, mozhete sebe predstavit', bez Blekmora pravda, no Mors
s HighWay Star solo spravilsya v samom konce koncerta :) s ih klavishnikom
Dzhonom Lordom, gde tot govorit, chto gorditsya tem, chto u etoj gruppy vsegda
bylo chuvstvo yumora! Oni ne korchili iz sebya d'yavolov "na polnom ser'eze", a
takaya pesnya kak "Strange kind of woman", kotoraya vpervye poyavilas' kogda ya
byl v shkole v 1978? godu na plastinke-sbornike "|stradnaya Orbita"
rasskazyvaet o neschastnom, kotoryj pytalsya zavoevat' lyubov' prostitutki, i
kogda ta v konce koncov soglasilas', radostno na nej zhenilsya, a podruga
vskore umerla - kak chestnaya zamuzhnyaya zhenshchina! Kak partkom firmy Melodiya
proglyadel? :-) Da che tam govorit'! Smoke on the Water - dym nad vodoj - tam
che, slova vazhny? ;)
Led Zeppelin eto drugoe. Kogda gde-to paru ryadov szadi sredi reva stoyavshego
ves' koncert ogromnogo krytogo stadiona prorezalsya otchayannyj golos zhenshchiny
let 40 "I love you!!!!!", obrashchennyj k pevcu Robertu Plantu, ya ponimal, chto
ona chuvstvovala, i bud' ya ee muzhem, ya by ne v bok pihnul, a poceloval by
nezhno, i shepnul na uho: "Lastochka moya, ya budu starat'sya!".
|to vsegda byla kakaya-to "misticheskaya" gruppa - ni statej, ni informacii
nikakoj dostat' bylo nel'zya - bylo izvestno, chto oni velikie, chto ih
al'bomy raskupali na Zapade v strashnyh kolichestvah, i t.p. YA govoryu o sebe
- lyudi bolee blizkie k muzyke usmehnutsya, slushaya moj bred, no teper', kogda
ya mogu chitat' stat'yu iz bukleta, soprovozhdayushchego moj podarochnyj nabor iz ih
4h CD, ya uznayu, chto voobshche-to govorya "sekretnost'" byla glavnym
kommercheskim tryukom ih menedzhera Pitera Granta. |to mozhet vyzvat' ulybku,
no ya tak ponimayu, princip byl tot-zhe, chto i u izvestnogo poslevoennogo
cirkovogo klouna Karandasha (on vystupal s malen'koj sobakoj). |tot kloun
nikogda ne razreshal pomeshchat' svoe imya na afishi - prosto progulivalsya po
gorodu, i k vecheru shapito byl polon!
Ideya ih menedzhera, Pitera Granta zaklyuchalas' v tom, chto radio, telefon,
avtomobil'nye poezdki i pis'ma - lichnye svyazi i obshchenie mezhdu lyud'mi -
etogo bylo dostatochno, i eto davalo oshchushchenie sekretnosti, klubnosti,
priveligirovannosti, prinadlezhnosti k klubu fanov Led Zeppelin. |to ne moj
bred - eto iz stat'i Led Zeppelin/Light and Shade by Cameron Crowe, i ya
dumayu byli prichiny vklyuchit' stat'yu etogo zhurnalista na podarochnyj komplekt CD.
CHert, ya dazhe ne pristupil - che Vam skazat', chtob Vy ponyali, pered kakoj
glyboj ya stoyu, i kak slozhna moya zadacha. YA slushal i lyublyu muzyku so shkol'nyh
let, nedavno ya kupil sebe snachala odnu elektrogitaru Fender i usilitel', a
potom vtoruyu. YA igrayu i poyu rok-n-roll i prosto Gradskogo so shkoly, ya kupil
malen'kij piratskij flag, i votknul ego v moj ryukzak, kogda ehal na koncert
- 3-h chasovaya poezdka.
YA stoyal posredi orushego stadiona, sleva i szadi kurili marihuanu, mne
udalos' pronesti malen'kij diktofon nesmotrya na to, chto obyskivali eshche
pered tem, kak proveryat' bilety. YA vstal srazu posle molodoj devchenki - ee
za zad ne shchupali, a menya po inercii tozhe(a v zadnem karmane bylo
zapreshchennoe k pronosu ZVUKOZAPISYVAYUSHCHEE ustrojstvo - malen'kij diktofon
Sony). YA ne mog krichat', a ya mogu eshche kak, ya ne mog prygat', ya ochnulsya
tol'ko v seredine koncerta, vklyuchiv diktofon, ya tol'ko kuril ne
perestavaya(Winston v kurenie STROGO zapreshaetsya pomeshchenii ;) i chut' ne
plakal, ne verya svoim usham i glazam!!!!
Otkryla koncert kak vsegda gruppa razogreva - igrali neploho - solistka
igraya na skripke v cyganskom stile perekryvala rev gitary i barabanov,
golos byl horosh, eshche byla violonchel', oni blagodarili Dzhimmi Pejdzha i
Roberta Planta za okazannuyu chest' - stadion byl polupustoj ...
Posle pereryva, kogda ya kupil zdorovennyj stakan piva (ne to chtob oni
zhdali, poka ya eto sdelayu, net, ya sam ochen' toropilsya), NACHALOSX!!!
Svet pogas, stadion vstal, zazhigaya zazhigalki, fonariki ... Nemnogo o scene
- pered scenoj zabor iz chernyh shchitov metra pod dva - telohraniteli so
storony sceny s trudom vyglyadyvali iz-za nego, nad scenoj viseli po
kvadratu ogromnye, v pyat' yarusov dinamiki i tri ekrana ne menee 10h10
metrov - ya special'no neskol'ko raz smotrel vniz na pervye ryady, primeryaya
chelovecheskij rost, chtoby ocenit' ih razmer. Ny etih ekranah pokazyvali ruki
Dzhimmi Pejdzha na ego gitarah - menyal kak minimum chetyre raza, vklyuchaya
chernuyu akusticheskuyu i s dvumya grifami. Igral On v osnovnom na svoem zheltom
Gibsone, ispol'zuya krugom bol'shoj palec levoj ruki! ... 8-0 I konechno,
strastnyj i lukavyj Plant!!!
Da, svet pogas, zazhglis' zazhigalki, pauza, TOMITELXNAYA, beskonechnaya pauza,
i VOT!!! Udarili veerom lazery, i "razverzlis' nebesa, i uvideli oni
nishodyashchego kak golub', Duha Bozhiya, spuskayushchegosya na Nih. I golos s nebes
govoryashchij: |to Syny Moi Vozlyublennye, i v Nih Moe blagovolenie."(Matfej,
Gl. 3, stih 17).
|to proishodilo v moej golove, i ya chuvstvoval, net, ya SLYSHAL, to-zhe samoe
chuvstvoval i stoyashij i revushchij stadion!!!!
Nu kak |TO peredat', nu KAK?! Mogu glupye "tehnicheskie" detali - speredi na
scene stoyal moshchnyj ventilyator - ya dumayu ne tol'ko i ne stol'ko dlya
ohlazhdeniya solista Roberta Planta, a v osnovnom dlya razduva ego
velikolepnyh ryzhih hippovyh pryadej. "Dlya ohlazhdeniya"! Idiot! skazhete Vy? Ne
toropites'! Kogda ya kupil Fender i knizhku, kak nastraivat' elektrogitaru (a
eto mashina - da, tam vsyakih nastroek, nu ni kak v ZHigulyah, no ...), da tak
vot v samom nachale bylo obsuzhdenie togo, chto delat', esli detali nizhnego
porozhka strun (bridge po-anglijski) zarzhaveli ot prolitogo pota i ne
poddayutsya nastrojke. CHe-CHe? skazal ya togda? No kogda ya kupil vtoruyu gitaru,
i my nachali s priyatelem nayarivat' po voskresen'yam, ya ponyal, ot chego gitary
rzhaveyut! ;) A vy govorite ventilyator!
Dzhimmi Pejdzh byl strizhennyj, i mne kazalos' inogda, chto mel'kala dazhe
malen'kaya plesh', a mozhet ne nado po sebe drugih sudit'? Plant ne izmenilsya
- tot-zhe hippi-yunosha tvoej mechty, devochka moya! Pejdzh - muzhchina - svobodnaya
chernaya odezhda, spokojnye - ne samodovol'nye, net!!!!! SPOKOJNYE uverennye
manery, i tol'ko legkie lukavye grimasy, i naduvshiesya kak u trubacha shcheki,
kogda solo uletaet v nebesa ... Val'yazhnye i ne to, chtoby neuklyuzhie, net -
val'yazhnye tancy na scene - kak budto oni doma sobralis' vypit'-potolkovat'
i poigrat' ROK-N-ROLLLLL!!!!!!!
Plant - da, podergivaem plechikami, skladyvaem v mol'be ruki, podkidyvaem
nogoj mikrofonnuyu stojku, zakidyvaem v ekstaze golovu nazad, podstavlyaya
sebya strue vozduha beshenno rabotayushchego ventilyatora ...
CHert, voobshche-to govorya oni igrali rok-n-roll! KAKOJ rok-n-roll!!!!!
YA ne ponimal, KAK igral Pejdzh - rabota levoj ruki plyus bol'shoj palec,
mediatorom po vsem strunam - chert, ya uvazhayu Blekmora, no eto bylo chto-to
drugoe ... Kak ya potom prochital v stat'e, kogda govoryat o rok-gitaristah,
mozhno obsuzhdat', kto vyshe ili nizhe v tom, chto segodnya schitaetsya
rok-n-rollom, Pejdzh? voobshche-to ego shkala daleko otsyuda! :-)
Nu kak peredat', kogda ty vidish' zhiv'em to, chto podnimaetsya iz pamyati
detstva s zapilennyh plastinok i zaezzhennyh plenok, i ty VIDISHX i slyshish'
|TO zhiv'em?! |to bylo MOSHCHNO - ne gromko. CHto takoe gromko - eto kogda na
kuhne igraesh' na 100 Vattnom usilitele na polnuyu katushku - eto GROMKO, i
mozhet byt' BOLXNO! Kstati, odin iz lyubimyh usilitelej Pejdzha - 100 Vattnyj
ruchnoj sboki sdelannyj v Rossii Marshall-style usilitel' pod nazvaniem
