EUnet International Continues Expansion

MEDIA INFORMATION - For Immediate Release

Company Expands in Sweden and Romania, now covers 11 Countries

Amsterdam, the Netherlands (16 December, 1996) - EUnet International, Europe's leading provider of Internet services, today announced its expansion through the establishment of EUnet Sweden a newly formed operation, and the acquisition of EUnet Romania, the first ever to provide commercial Internet services in Romania and the market leader in that country. Both companies have become wholly-owned subsidiaries of EUnet International. This brings the total number of companies owned by EUnet International to 11. EUnet's total coverage now spans 41 countries in Europe and beyond, delivered via a unique, owned and managed pan-European backbone network.

"When we established EUnet International in April 1996, it was our stated aim to expand the company's size and influence through mergers, acquisitions and start-ups," explained Wim Vink, EUnet International's managing director. "With this first step we have delivered on this promise. And this is only the first of a number of significant steps which we have planned into 1997. Our long term aim is to be a leading provider of Internet business solutions in major international markets."

EUnet Sweden is a new company which will offer the full range of EUnet services to businesses in Sweden (please refer to accompanying notes for details). EUnet Sweden will take over the management of the existing infrastructure in Sweden from EUnet Norway. The company has an aggressive business plan which predicts rapid revenue growth of the company, serving an estimated 1,000 clients by the end of 1997. The company will initially operate one major POP in Stockholm and plans to increase national coverage with further POPs during 1997/8.

Established in 1993, EUnet Romania remains the market leader in that countryand derives all of its revenues solely from the provision of Internet solutions. The company currently has several hundred users, mostly corporations, and operates one principal POP in Bucharest, one POP in Craiova and will shortly open 2 more POPs in Constanta and Brasov. Further POPs will be added in the coming 12 months, covering all major cities in Romania.

EUnet has also expanded its sphere of influence by offering services in new territories. For example, the EUnetTraveller service is now available in 23 countries in Europe and coverage has recently been extended to include the United States. Coverage will further advance with plans to offer services in South Africa, Latin America, Australia, Japan and Hong Kong, starting in 1997. Such extensions will take EUnet to its goal of providing top quality Internet solutions to businesses locally, nationally and globally.

The company has already attracted significant inward investment, with Advent International committing ECU 10 million in 1996. Further investment will be generated by an Initial Public Offering (IPO) on the NASDAQ stock exchange in 1997.
