Amsterdam, December 5, 1997:
EUnet International is pleased to announce further expansion of it's roaming service EUnetTraveller
EUnetTraveller subscribers will now be able to make full use of the
Internet when travelling in Japan and Hong Kong. Connectivity will be
provided by EUnet International's business partner Abone, the high-speed
Internet backbone network built and operated by AIH throughout the
Asia-Pacific region. These new PoPs are part of a pilot phase, during which
Abone and EUnet are installing and configuring new equipment to function
together. It is planned to make more PoPs available at a later stage.
As from December 15th customers wishing to use the EUnetTraveller service
in Germany will do so via Xlink. This represents a continuation of the
business partner agreement between EUnet International and Xlink.
The new Xlink PoPs in Germany are technically more sophisticated. Windows
95 dial-up PPP customers can now login using the standard (automatic)
dial-up procedure. In addition, the new PoPs support the Nokia 9000 GSM
connection. All the new German PoPs are now equipped with modems that
support K56flex, allowing much higher speed over ordinary phone lines
(providing the customers' own modem supports K56flex). And last but not
least, thanks to improved international connectivity from/to Germany,
throughput has also increased significantly.
About EUnetTraveller
The EUnetTraveller service (XlinkTraveller in Germany ) provides users on
the move with full mobile access to all Internet services, including
electronic mail, file transfer, Usenet News and the World Wide Web. All
that Internet users require to use this service is a computer with a modem
and an EUnetTraveller (XlinkTraveller) account. With these, users can dial
into the Internet - often for no telephone charge or just the cost of a
local call.
Subscriptions can be made on-line via the World Wide Web -
http://traveller.EU.net - and can be paid with most major credit cards or
via traditional means. Sign up costs $39.95 which includes the first 90
minutes on-line (usage costs are 14 $cents per minute, with no hidden
charges) It's also possible to subscribe by phone by contacting EUnet's
EUnetTraveller Hotline number on: +32 (0)16 39 80 80.
