In an agreement signed on November 27th 1997, EUnet International, Europe's
leading provider of Internet services, further expanded its international
presence by taking a majority stake in Data Telecom AS of Estonia. The
move is a continuation of EUnet's plans to expand its size and influence
through mergers, acquisitions and start-ups.
Data Telecom AS is Estonia's leading Internet Service Provider and has
annual sales, mainly of TCP/IP network services to Estonian customers, of
11 million EEK (US$ 771,500) and was profitable over the last year. It
recently launched a satellite channel between Tallinn, Estonia and
Amsterdam, the Netherlands, which runs parallel to it's terrestrial
network, as well as an international roaming service for all EUnet
customers in Estonia. It will trade as EUnet Estonia, a name it has used
since it began offering EUnet services as an EUnet franchisee in 1995.
Strong Alliance
Founder of Data Telecom AS, Mr. Neeme Takis, who remains President of EUnet
Estonia, comments: "Being a subsidiary of a leading international Internet
