Amsterdam, January 28, 1998:
EUnet International Broadcasts in Europe Digital's CEO Bob Palmer and
Microsoft's CEO Bill Gates announcement of a major expansion of their
strategic partnership
EUnet International, in partnership with Moonfire, a Sweden and Silicon valley based multi-media Internet Broadcast Company,
makes its webcasting infrastructure available for Digital and Microsoft
to announce the furthering of their alliance via worldwide cybercast.
"Started in 1995, the alliance was one of the first strategic alliances
struck by Microsoft to migrate NT into the back end of corporate networks.
Under the agreement Microsoft agreed to train hundreds of Digital service
personnel on Windows NT. In return, Digital agreed to promote NT as an
operating system to its hardware customers. In the latest stage of the
partnership Digital furthers its commitment to Microsoft by releasing a
new generation of NT servers that do not distinguish by product name
between servers based on Intel processors and those based around Digital's
own Alpha chip". (1)
The presentation of this latest development in the Microsoft Digital
alliance will be broadcast over the Internet at 17.00 GMT and will be
available for on-demand viewing from http://www.EU.net
This is a perfect example of how the Internet can be used effectively reach
a large audience for both internal and external communications and allow
interested parties and or stake holders to be kept fully up-to-date on the
latest developments within the company.
Amancio Kolompar, Business Manager Networked Commerce at EUnet
International says "Building on RealNetworks' award winning RealAudio and
RealVideo technology we have designed a turnkey solution based upon a
distributed splitter network of media servers that are strategically
located across Europe. With this unmatched network we automatically deliver
content from the closest, least-congested available stream, reducing
packet loss and signal fragmentation. As a result companies can now offer
their customers affordable high quality Internet broadcasts."
