Crossing the border of the Republic of Latvia every person is
allowed to bring in without paying custom duties and/or VAT:
- ANY PRODUCTS or goods if their total value does not exceed 300
Lats. Quantity of the same goods should not exceed 3 units.
This restriction does not apply to goods of any amount in case
when their total value does not exceed 15 Ls.
- FOODSTUFFS with the total custom value not exceeding 15 Lats.
- ALCOHOL/LIQUORS in the quantity of 1 liter or not more than 3
liters bottled in 1 bottle/can by manufacturer. Persons aged
below 18 are not allowed to bring alcoholic beverages in Latvia.
- TOBACCO may be brought in to Latvia in quantity not exceeding
200 gramms or 20 cigars or 200 cigarettes.
- PETS and ANIMALS might be brought in Latvia only along with
health certificate issued by the state concerned.

Leaving the Republic of Latvia every person is allowed to
transfer viza custom border of Latvia any stuffs and goods except
those, the transfer of which via border of Latvia is prohibited
or partially restricted. Custom duties should be paid for some
goods transfered via border of Latvia. Special restrictions
apply to:
- FUR or SKIN of hunted animals. To bring such stuffs out of
Latvia owner should provide special permission issued by State
Forest Service (phone: 227057)
- ARTISTIC WORKS of cultural value. To bring such stuffs out of
Latvia owner should provide special permission issued by the
State Agency for Protection of Culture Values (phone: 221647)
If you made your purchase in an art salon or gallery all formalities will be settles right there.
- PETS and ANIMALS. Traveller will be asked to show certificate
issued by the State Border Veterinary Control Agency (phone:
327472, 327473)FIREARMS, HUNTING RIFLES and GAS PISTOLS/REVOLVERS. To
transport things of this kind via border of Latvia the
permission from the Ministry of Interior (phone: 219983) is
necessary.
IN NO CASE private person may transfer via the border of the
Republic of Latvia:
- COMBAT GUNS/weapons/arms of any kind or their parts, ammo,
explosives etc.
- SPECIAL CHEMICAL SUBSTANCES and devices for their usage
(except teargas cans).
- cold steel weapons.
- PURE ALCOHOL (spirit).
- NARCOTICS and PSYCHTHROPIC SUBSTANCES. (Every traveller may
possess any reasonable amount of pharmaceuticals which might
become necessary for the period of travel. If such
pharmaceuticals have narcotic or psychothropic effect, traveller
